Try This: 3 Things I'm Loving 🔥

Hi ,

Today’s newsletter is a short roundup of a few products that I’ve been using, loving, and recommending lately!

Just a quick note before we jump in: I have no financial ties to any of these recommendations, and none of the links below is an affiliate or partner link. These are all organic mentions of things that I’ve genuinely paid for and that I’m enjoying.

All right, let’s jump into this week’s recommendations!1. The Best and Most Affordable Mouth TapeLong-time readers of this newsletter know I’m a big fan of a practice called mouth taping (apparently, Iga ÅšwiÄ…tek is too). But when it comes to finding the right mouth tape, it’s been a little bit of a struggle. There are premium brands like SomniFix and Hostage Tape that people love but are a little bit on the pricey side. And then there are super-cheap options like 3M medical tape, but they hurt your lips when you pull them off in the morning because they were never designed to be used for mouth tape. And then a few months ago my wife Yasmin came across Medvance Soft Silicone Tape, and we’ve been using it ever since! Even though this tape wasn’t designed to be used for mouth tape, it’s the perfect fit. First of all, it’s inexpensive—$9.99 for a five-yard roll—which means it will last, and secondly, the silicone tape is strong but very soft. Basically, it won’t rip your lips off when you take it off in the morning.

By the way, I’m sure some of you are totally confused about why I’m taping my mouth. So for those who are not familiar, mouth taping is the simple act of taping your mouth shut at night, which encourages you to breathe through your nose instead of your mouth, resulting in a deeper, more restful night’s sleep. As I’ve mentioned in the past, when I first heard about mouth taping, I was a little skeptical. But once I learned about the importance of breathing through your nose and the role of nitric oxide in our sleep and overall health, I got on the mouth-tape train and never looked back.I’m not saying mouth taping works for everyone, but for me, it’s on my list of the top three things I’ve done that have significantly improved my sleep. If you want to learn more about mouth taping check out our past article, Mouth Taping 101.

2. Copenhagen Sparkling Tea CompanyA few weeks ago, my friend Daisy introduced me to one of the best alcohol-free alternatives that I’ve ever tasted.

Copenhagen Sparkling Tea is a zero-alcohol alternative to sparkling wine and champagne that doesn’t taste like crap (pardon my French). I’ve tried a lot of the alcohol replacements and so many of them either a) taste horrible or b) are filled with a ton of sugar.Copenhagen Sparkling Tea is different. Their tea blends taste complex, rich, and yet subtle at the same time. They are low in sugar (between 2g and 5g per serving, which is something I always look for), and they are 100 percent organic.

After trying their BLÃ… Tea, which is made from jasmine tea, I ordered it as a gift for a bunch of my family members.

Quick note! Three of the six blends have zero alcohol, while the other three have 5 percent alcohol. Also, you can’t buy these blends via their website, but they link to a bunch of stores where you can find them. I used drygoodsdrinks.com to order online. It’s not inexpensive at $40 a bottle, but it’s well worth it for a special occasion. As I’ve shared in the past, even though I was never a big drinker, I’ve still significantly cut out alcohol from my life. In all of 2023, so far, I’ve had fewer than three drinks, and I feel great. If you’re looking for some motivation to cut back or quit alcohol, check out this newsletter, and if you need some practical tips, we’ve got you covered here.3. Portable Air Quality MonitorMost people don’t know this, but the air in our homes is often significantly worse than the air outside, even in cities like Los Angeles, where I live. I’m super passionate about his topic, which is why I’ve written about it a bunch in the past. But the thing about bad air is that you can’t see it. The tiny problematic particles are invisible to our naked eye, and most people have no clue how clean their air is at home. In the short term, poor air quality is linked to a lack of focus and even headaches. And over the long term, microscopic particles that off-gas from things like furniture and carpets can even increase our risk of cardiovascular and other chronic diseases. That’s why I’m always on the lookout for devices and new tech that can help me and my readers measure in detail the true quality of the air.So about a month ago, someone reached out to me after seeing some of my content on this topic and highly suggested I check out ATMO, a portable device that’s linked to your smartphone and gives you super-detailed real-time data on your air quality. I’m always a little skeptical of portable devices, but I was pleasantly surprised by ATMO.

Even though the device is a little pricey at $169, it's much more affordable than a lot of the other solutions I’ve seen out there and provides way more data than the other monitors I use that are double-to-triple the cost. And the best part, of course, is the device is portable, which means I can take it into different rooms or even into my office to see how the air quality shakes up.A quick personal story: I recently bought a new car for my wife, and every time I sat in the car, I'd get the worst headaches, and I never get headaches! I know new cars are notorious for that "new car smell" made up of tons of harmful chemicals, but could the air really be THAT bad??So I whipped out my ATMO device, which I coincidentally purchased around the same time, and I was shocked! No wonder I was getting headaches; the air quality in the car was abysmal! I wish I had taken a screenshot to show you all.The good news is that within just a few minutes of driving with the windows open, the quality drastically improved, and I've been implementing a few other techniques to accelerate the off-gassing, which has also improved the air quality. If you want to splurge a bit, have room in your budget, and care about air quality, ATMO is the best option I’ve seen so far. And if I ever come across something better or more affordable, I’ll be sure to let you know about it.

Final Thoughts:

I hope you enjoyed these recommendations, and if any of these products help you out in any way, let me know about it!Also, I’d love to hear what products you use that have improved your life or health—who knows, maybe we’ll feature it in a future product roundup.

With that, we’ll see you next week with another Try This! Here's to your health,Dhru Purohit
