Try This –2 Ways I’m Getting More Protein In My Diet

One of the top and most consistent recommendations from experts (regardless of what diet they follow) is to eat enough high-quality protein to preserve lean muscle mass—the organ of longevity!

Lean muscle mass protects you against insulin resistance, mobility challenges, cognitive decline, and so much more. The benefits are truly endless.

But I know firsthand just how hard it can feel to get more protein in your diet.

Honestly even for me, sometimes, it feels like a chore!

That’s why I’m so excited to share 2 super easy and tasty ways I’m getting more protein in my diet. I think you’re going to love them.

Let’s get into it…

My wife has chronic neck and back pain from years of wearing heels. Yes, your footwear can cause pain all over your body! I had her try Vivobarefoot shoes a few years ago, and they've been a game-changer for her.

The reason Vivobarefoot works so well is because their footwear is designed to let our feet move as they naturally should. They are wide, thin, and flexible -- basically as close to barefoot as possible. They promote your foot's natural strength and movement, allowing you to feel the ground beneath your feet.

I've gotten my whole family to switch to Vivobarefoot, and we've all noticed significant improvements in our posture, training, pain, and more.

I love these shoes, and I know you will too. Vivobarefoot is so confident about their shoes, they offer a 100-day trial period.

Right now, Vivobarefoot is offering my community 20% off their shoes. Just go to this link: vivobarefoot.com/dhru and use the code DHRU20.

This first high-protein snack requires a specific device, but I’m telling you, if you can splurge on it, it’s worth it! A ton of my friends who are looking to “up” their protein but are tired of the same old boring protein shakes are using the Ninja CREAMi to make protein ice cream.

I just got one of my own after tasting a friend's protein-rich ice cream and am definitely hooked. Here’s the recipe I’ve been using. I’m not sure if it would work in a regular ice cream maker, but if anyone tries it, DM me on Instagram and let me know.

Dhru’s Protein-Rich Ice Cream

Base Ingredients

  • 13.5oz can of full-fat coconut cream

  • 1/4 cup of monk fruit (or you can add a sweetener of your choice, but you’ll have to play around with the amount depending on your preference for sweetness)

  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract

  • 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder (I like Earth Fed Muscle and Momentous)

Directions:

  • Blend all ingredients together

  • Freeze overnight

Next day:

  • Add all ingredients to your Ninja CREAMi for delicious ice cream!

Who doesn’t love a sweet treat? This one is extra sweet because it helps me meet my protein goals and satisfies ice cream cravings too.

Big thanks to my brother-in-law Neel and my neighbor Annie for getting me on the Ninja bandwagon!

This option is super easy. This stick has become my go-to post-gym snack, traveling snack, and something I reach for before and after meetings and podcasts for a quick source of energy.

I have never tasted grass-fed sticks quite so delicious in my entire life. I love Maui Nui venison sticks so much that I keep at least 4 to 5 in my backpack at all times. I even stick them in my wife’s purse (and the glove box of her car) so she has a good snack option throughout the day.

These venison sticks are awesome because not only are they delicious and protein-rich, but Maui Nui is an amazing company that supports our natural ecosystems by harvesting deer using a 100% stress-free and totally wild system that actively manages an invasive deer population.

Just one stick contains 10 grams of high-quality protein and 55 calories.

My whole family loves these venison sticks, and I’ve introduced my friends and podcast listeners to them, too, because I love them so much. These really help prevent me from reaching for chips or snacks that I know will make me feel tired.

Full disclosure: Maui Nui sponsors both this newsletter and my podcast, but this write up isn’t sponsored. They are genuinely part of my daily routine when it comes to closing the protein gap.

That’s it. Two super simple and really delicious ways I’m getting more protein in my diet – I don’t feel deprived; I don’t feel a huge crash; and I get to look forward to my snacks!

See you next week,
